What are those umbrella-like dwarf trees?

I see these trees everywhere, only about 4-5 feet tall, completely bare trunk and at the top it is like an umbrella, with all the branches drooping down. The branches are really short, or maybe they are trimmed to be really short. They survive in winter climates (Canada) with no leaves.

What are those umbrella-like dwarf trees?
Probably a weeping cherry... There are many weeping variety trees around if you are interested, besides the cherry but that is probably the most popular.
Reply:i think you may be referring to weeping cherry trees. my parents have one in their front yard. they've had it for 11 years now and i'm still taller than it.(i'm only 5'2) it gets really pretty flowers in the spring and it has little cherries on it in the summer.
Reply:sand cherries and the shape is cuting and pruning them every season
Reply:i believe that the term dwarf is offensive to small trees, so we are now referring to them as vertically challenged umbrella trees
Reply:I think that you are referring to a weeping mulberry tree. It has a dwarf version and a regular size. It is an interesting tree in the winter and a beautiful tree in the summer.
