Can I use eucalyptus tree Branch's for my parrots?

I have two parrots African Grey and a umbrella cockatoo. I also have a couple huge eucalyptus trees in the back yard with cool branches that look like it would be fun for a parrot to play on.,but is it safe for them to chew and play on??

Can I use eucalyptus tree Branch's for my parrots?
Hi, I have a 6 year old African Grey. I would be careful with the Eucalyptus because they do have oil that is used for medicinal purposes. Check with a local vet or pet store that specializes in parrots. They will probably tell you to stick to something that is not so oily. The Afrcian Grey or any other bird would be so quick to react to something like that , it would be too late to do something once they were chewing on it. Try some of the African Grey sites on the internet. They have a wealth of info for birds. Good Luck Anne
Reply:no its not the Oil is deadly
Reply:i dont know about african greys but budgies have lived in them for hundred of years and budgies are parrots aswell
Reply:Its fine for birds, eucalypts are native to where I live and i have put heaps of branches in my aviary, the animal sunctuaries use it their aviaries too.

The wild parrots and cockatoos chew them all day long and they are fine.

It is only bad to ingestif you put it through a cold press to extract the pure oil. people even use it to make cups of tea
Reply:It's great for birds. It's also healthy because the scent repels insects.
